We’ve talked before about adopting a Business Mindset to really drive growth and expansion in your career. Cultivating the right mindset toward your business is one of the most powerful things you can do – and the way you think about your business can either propel you forward, or hold you back. If you really want to be a boss, you can’t skip this step, so today, we’re back with some more steps you can take and ways to restructure your thinking to put you on the path to success.
You’ve heard that old saying about doing the same thing over and over, but expecting different results?
It’s true in your business. Try something new! Approach a new contact with a different conversation, talk to your partner or coach to create a new promotion or giveaway, or hold a different type of event, at a different time of day, to attract a different crowd.
It’s also true in your personal and professional development. Subscribe to a new podcast, take an online course, pick up a new book. Whatever is a step away from your usual routine – you’ll definitely learn something,
Have a Reason For Every Step
Ideas for growing your business are a dime a dozen. Everyone has a suggestion on what you should do, where you should be, and how you should act.
But at some point, you’ve got to step back and do a little reflection.
How will this action add to your bottom line?
Why will this behavior attract more people to your product or business?
What will it cost you to add this new behavior, in time and money – and what’s your expected result?
Don’t just step blindly forward at the advice of another person. While it’s true that mentors, partners, and coaches have a lot to add to your journey – at the end of the day, it’s your journey, and needs to be supported by reasons and actions that make sense to YOU.
Act Like The Star You Want To Be
Call it visualization, positive thinking, or just plain old confidence – you need to fake it until you make it.
Now, we’re not telling you to lie, or to promote things about yourself or your business that aren’t true.
But, all of us have been there — feeling uncomfortable, maybe a little like an imposter. At the same time, we see our successful leaders and business inspiration in other women and men who have succeeded and built great things.
What sets them apart from you?
We’re pretty sure, at one point, each of these achievers was insecure, uncertain, maybe even terrified of the next step.
So even if it’s hard, practice believing in yourself and telling yourself you’re a superstar. If you tell it to yourself often enough, eventually, you’ll get to see it come true.
One thing that successful business owners do better than anyone else is respectfully, consistently, and thoughtfully set and maintain boundaries.
Whether this means protecting your family time and leaving work at the office, or being able to say No without damaging a relationship, respecting your boundaries is critical if you want to be taken seriously.
