The holidays are a make-or-break period for your network marketing business.
It’s possibly the busiest time of year, between parties and concerts and trips and family gatherings, but it’s also a season full of possibility. More than any other time, you’re surrounded by people who are actively looking for something to buy -- and more money to make their holiday dreams come true.
The downside of this season is that during the holidays, people also want to take a break -- and it’s possible you’re seeing this happen on your team. People are tired, they want to sit back and drink some eggnog, eat sugar cookies, and not have the 14th conversation with a prospect about their business.
We get it -- but the actions you take over the holiday season will create momentum you can ride into the new year.
Here are three tips for having a successful holiday season!
Be Visible
During the holiday season, people have a million things on their mind -- and they’re seeing dozens of ads everywhere they look, from their inboxes to social media, from what they hear on their commute to the flyers up at local coffee shops.
It’s easy to feel like you’re endlessly beating the same drum, posting repeatedly about sales and your product on social media, sending newsletters, and reaching out again and again. But here’s the reality -- you have to work hard this time of year even to be seen. Between social media algorithms, people skipping their inboxes for a festive feast, and the distractions all around, there is a lot of noise right now.
Be visible, and be consistent -- share the products you love, the company you’re a part of, and most importantly, your WHY.
People will notice not only what you’re sharing, but the professionalism and consistency you bring to your business - and that will make a serious impact.
Be Quick
The holiday season isn’t the time for a long, extended explanation of your business. Respect the fact that people are busy right now, and keep it short and simple. Here’s what this might look like:
When you meet someone new at a holiday party:
“I’ve got a home-based business that replaced by teacher income last year. I love that I can work from anywhere and help improve others lives too!”
When you’re talking about your products:
“These products are MY favorites because they keep my house clean and fresh without chemicals. Is there one product you could swap out before the holiday cleaning frenzy so you can feel better about inviting little ones into your home this season?”
Or
“I love getting my hands on travel sizes for our family vacations, and they’re on special right now. I know you travel a lot for work -- would this make your life simpler?”
When you’re talking about the business opportunity:
“I know this is a busy time, but I think you’re be great at this job -- can we put a date on the calendar for January to sit down and explore it more over a coffee?”
Be Encouraging
During the holidays, it’s more important than ever to take care of your team. Not only should you cheer them on to reach or exceed their own goals in this busy time, it’s a great opportunity to show them how much you appreciate them with special contests, giveaways, and holiday bonuses.
Lead the way by showing your team how you’re balancing holiday commitments and your own work. Maybe it’s sharing tips on how to connect with strangers or distant relatives about the business; perhaps it’s just being present in the same way you are the rest of the year, offering encouragement and congratulating your team members when they hit a milestone.
When January rolls around, your team will be more unified than ever, and more ready to start 2019 with a new burst of energy and intention.
